Thestudents helped rebuildhouses for the week.Junior A.J. Masonsaid, We helped torebuild houses that weredestroyed in HurricaneAndrew. It was nice tosee how grateful all thepeople there were.Some students choseto ditch the parents andleft on trips with theirfriends instead.Junior Misty Mitchnersaid, I stayed in aretirement communityin Florida with myfriends grandparents.We lay out a lot and gotto drive a really cool golfcart.Sophomore RossOn a Project Teamwork worksite,sophomore Sofie Conner sweepsout a room in a house underconstruction. The house wasdamaged by Hurricane Andrew in1992.Freeman said, Myfriend and I went toTampa. It was coolbecause we got to tryparasailing andjetskiing.Senior Todd Schollsaid, I went toGatlinburg, Tennesseeand hiked in the SmokyMountains with myfriends.A few students hadthe opportunity to leavethe country over break.Students visited avariety of placesincluding England,Spain and Italy.Sophomore KatieSheehan said, I went toEngland ... Its kind ofcool that everything isso old in England. It wasfun to think about all thepeople who had beenthere before.Many students alsovacationed with theirfamilies.Freshman Adam Eadssaid, I went to DisneyWorld with my family,and I rode the Tower ofTerror with my brother.It was awesome.Sophomore BeckyReidhaar said, Overspring break, my familytraveled to Hilton HeadIsland. The beach wasgorgeous and theweather waswonderful.Students who stayedin Bloomington foundplenty to do bywatching TV, seeingmovies, spending timewith friends andworking extra hours.Junior Shannon Hashsaid, I got to sleep in alot, work my usual job,and I also had time to dosome volunteer work.Senior Ricky Dukesaid, I partied half thetime, and I fished theother half.Sophomore SarahFreeman said, Overspring break, I competedin the state ScienceOlympiad competitionat IU. We won and weall had a lot of fun.Overall, everyonewas ready for a breakfrom school andwhether they left townor stayed home,students were able torelax.What standsout most fromspring break?UJrian BehrmanOne time I woke upat 12:30 a.m. andwent running onthe beach.•juniorMisty MitchnerMy friend and Iwere kayaking inFlorida and ourkayak flipped overin the middle of theocean.
