Description: |
Changing TimesThe cooks, custodians, and nurses all agreed thatSouth had changed since they first began working here. For nurses, the work load increased because of thefrequency of sexually transmitted diseases, social problems, and teenage pregnancies. The cooks faced an enlargedstudent body, and saw fast food restaurants (Chic-Fil-Aand Pizza Hut) invade their cafeteria.Renovation is something that all of the cooks, custodians, and nurses are looking forward to. Ill be gladwhen we renovate, commented Linda Hobbs the headcook,We hope to change the cafeteria into a cafe orrestaurant which will cut down on the lines.Renovation does pose some new challenges to thecustodians. Added carpet proved harder to take care of. AsEric May, custodian manager, said, It (the carpet)consumes energy. For some of these cooks, custodians, and nurses, this is not their only job. They are busy individuals who stillfind the time to put up with the students at BHSS.Stony by Vicki BarnesCooks: (L-R) PamWebb,JoyceDeckard, Donna Hazel,Brenda Terrell, BarbaraHall, Linda Hobbs, EllaRush, Wonda McClary, and Shirley Webb.G226 / AlbumNurses: (L-R)JackieTate -health aid,Norma Roper -head nurse, andLois Stephans -secretary....Photo by Henry RodatzPhoto by John ChambersI |
