Description: Din....The Business Leaders of TomorrowAs a South student you may have heard BPA meetingreminders on the announcements at one time or another. If yourewondering what this group is, it stands for Business Professionalsof America. To be able to be in BPA you must have taken at leaston business class here at South. BPA members practice skills suchas administrating, auditing business math, document formatting,and keyboarding. After months of meetings the BPA members goto competition where they compete in the events thy had beenpreparing for. The first competition on the road to Nationals washeld at the Southeastern Career Center in Versailles, Indiana, onFebruary 11, 1995. Several of the 21 BPA members made it to thestate level in which competition was held in Indianapolis. SarahTemple, Mary Barnes, Amanda Brown, April McDonald, andKristin Helms all placed at district competition, with Sarah Templeand Mary Barnes going on to state to compete in their separatewinning events. After state Sarah make it to Nationals where shetraveled to Nashville, Tennessee in May.BPA president, Amanda Ross, had this to say, It (BPA)has helped me learn responsibilities and gain leadership qualities.Senior Sarah Temple agreed and added, BPA had helped me to beinvolved in the community and make a difference.Eleven of the BPA members are also involved withCooperative Office Education, a Hoosier Hills Area VocationalSchool program. These students work for half of the school day andare required to be in BPA. These students will receive on the jobtraining, and learning while earning wages, participate in relatedclassroom instruction, and be provided with high school credits.Co-Curricular programs such as BPA really provide studentswith an idea of the real world and experience to take on the officecareers they would some day like to have.April Clark,a COEworker at theAdministrationBuilding, typesinformationinto thecomputer.April ClarkHeatherMellinger, twoCOE workers,pose for apicture in theAdministrationbuilding88/ACTIVITIES
