SoftballImprovesThe 1989 girls softballteam finished with a 10-10record. This was a big improvement over last yearsrecord of 5-14. Before theseason even started.Coach Chuck Jones setthe teams goal at winnngat least half of their games.Another important goal toJones was to beat North,which they did twice. Theteam made it to sectionals. The girls fought hard inthe sectional. It was toughto lose after 11 innings,Jones said.Despite the sectionalloss, the season did have itshigh points. The thing thatstuck out in Holly Taylorsmind was the Brown countyTournament, where theteam won the first trophy inschool history. It was agreat feeling to finally besuccessful at softball andhave something to showfor it, said Taylor.Pitching was the key,and Tina Rosenberger performed well. She had 11strikeouts during the lastgame of the tournamentagainst Brown County.It was a fun season, wegot along so well and hada good time, too, commented Cara Vaughan.Beating the throw, TinaRosenberger succesfully stealshome.Girls Softball.
