The concert band,which consisted of roughlyone hundred students, including those in theprepatory concert bandclass, was primarily activein the spring, for springsports. Among its manyperformances, the concertband gave fall, Christmas,and spring concerts andparticipated in solo andensemble contests in lateJanuary. The concert bandalso played at the graduation ceremonies. As a reward for their hard work,band members took a tripto Kings Island amusementpark in Cincinnatti. KellyGriffith said that so muchpractice takes place thatyou dont even realizehow much youve accomplished. Playing an hourevery day, you really improve. Weve improved alot.The jazz band is a groupof about twenty musicianswho have had musical experience and are dedicated to playing well. Theymade a trip to Eau ClaireUniversity in Wisconsin withNorths jazz band to participate in a three-day festival and performed in astate festival at Ball StateUniversity in March. Jazzband played for variouscivic groups, the NationalHonor Society, and performed at a semi-formaldance to raise funds for thestudent council.
