Description: ~jk LStudents adapt playsT heater South performed several playslast year. Their first playwas Barefoot in the Park,by Neil Simon, staged inCarmichael Hall November5th and 6th. This play included in its cast Paul Fra-tianni as Paul Bratter, alawyer, and Dawn Shea asCorie Bratter, Pauls wife.It was a pleasure doing arepeat of an old favorite,director Mary Forester saidof Barefoot in the Park.In January, Theater Southpresented three plays directed by students. HollyCheesman directed TheSandbox by Edward Albee,Vanessa Villegas directedIm Herbert by Robert Anderson, and April Busch directed A Wild, Wet Place,her adaptation of a shortstory by Mark VanDoren.Theater Souths springplay was an experimentaltheater piece which wastotally different from theother original works thatthey have performed. Thescript was created by thecast through improvisation.It centered around suchtopics as what makes youhappy, what do you worryabout, what makes yousad, and what do you wantmore than anything else inthe world, acording toForester. I am ... excitedby the creative possibilitieshere, Forester commented before the performance.An additional activity ofTheater South was revitalized, the Bloomington HighSchool South Dance Theater. They held bi-weeklyworkshops in which formsof dance ranging from tapto modern to ballet weretaught. Theyve justabout covered it all, saidForester. Two former students, Jeri Lynn Deckardand Mary Shetteroe,served as choreographersand directors. The onlyDance Theater performance was given in May.As a California beach muscle man,Pat Lumbley is the Angel of Death inThe Sand Box. He plants the kiss ofdeath on Granny, Danielle Bruce.Granny Is played by DanielleBruce. Left to die by her family,she has one last moment of consciousness.24
