This year shewon the title in addition tobeing named the TresslerMental Attitude award winnerfor girls golf. Amy washonored at a schoolconvocation at which anIHSAA official presented herwith the Tressler award. Herparents joined her at theaward ceremony and Mr.McDonald said he felt—Wonderful! How do you feelbetter than that? Shes mydaughter. Mr McDonald alsosaid that throughout the year,Amy had not been workingfor the award but heroutstanding scholastic andathletic achievements alongwith her congenial attitudewon it for her. The studentsalso, maybe for the first time,were interested in andenthusiastically joined in theconvocation. Amy receivednot only their respect, butalso three standing ovationsfrom her peers.Coach Britton felt the teamsurpassed all expectations,even their own. As theseason progressed, the girlsworked harder and theirconsistency built. I think thestate ranking helped motivatethem, she said. Beforeentering sectionals, the teamwas ranked 17th in the state.Behind the strongconsistent scoring ofMcDonald, the team finishedthe season with a 9-3 dualmeet record. Brittoncompared the team to a trackrelay team. Amy served asour anchor, she added.Senior Sara Topologus wasnamed Captain and SeniorAmy McDonald was named B-woman at the fall sportsbanquet.Senior Amy McDonaldprepares to putt.
