A surprise3-4 loss to Edgewood in sectional play ended the season ona frustrating note.Curt Richardson, elected IB-Man for the season, ended theseason with a record of 43 hitsand a batting average of .433.Richardson also led the team instolen bases with 20.Pitching a season total of 103and two-thirds innings, BuckoReed set a new Panther pitchingrecord. The old record was setin 1968 by Keith Mercer at 94innings.Senior Kyle Thoren led theteam in runs batted in with atotal of 27. He also led in homeruns with five.Toward the end of the seasonthe outfield fence was replaced.Panther heads were painted andplaced on the fence to mark thedistances from home plate.The Panthers beat crosstownrival North 4-3.Boosting team morale, Pantherteammates come together in atraditional handshake at thestart of an inning.124 Varsity baseballA player from Terre HauteNorth slides into second basebut junior Tom Drake stops himand sends him back to thedugout.Communication is the name ofthe game.
