Description: Martinsvilledefeat, 40-6The Junior Varsity footballteam had an outstandingseason, according to CoachGrier Werner, who led his teamto a 7-1 season record.Though the biggest highlightof the season came with a 40-6win over Martinsville, therewere four shutouts, includingthe Edgewood, Shelbyville,Bloomington North, and TerreHaute games.Some players named asoutstanding by Werner weresophomores Dave Parker, JimCrane, Richie Shields and ChadCurtis. Some juniors namedwere Keith King, DwightKoontz, James Marsh and AaronHosey. Hosey served as theteams quarterback.The main purpose of theJunior Varsity team is to preparethe kids for Varsity play, Wernerstated.The freshman football teamslated a 3-5 record this season,with the key word beingimprovement.They improved over thecourse of the year, said first-year Coach Neal Ogle. Theywere not real big but they didwork hard during practice.Like the Junior Varsity, thefreshmen highlighted theirseason by shutting out fourteams: Mitchell, Seymour,Bloomington North, and BrownCounty. Though each shutoutwas exciting, Ogle felt that thebiggest treat for the team wasbeating Bloomington North.Some players whom Ogle feltworked extra hard and contributed a lot to the team wereAaron Covey, Jeff Megnin andJerry Brown.i-,.■*»?. a7M«Cant you tell Im beat?
