Two talented teamsVolleyball players use abilityAn exceptionally talentedfreshmen squad made theseason memorable for coachJane Gouker. Besides being ateam with solid fundamentals, she could count on six straightpower servers to use againstopponents.Frequent substitutions madeit hard to keep the ball rolling;however, they were necessaryto give freshmen team membersequal playing opportunities.Gouker commented that a lackof concentration on the courtweakened the team. But,maturity helped us dig out ofsome holes and set us up forsome surprising wins. With maturity and talent, many of the freshmen advancedto the reserve team. The addition of freshmen made thereserve team big in numbersbut small in size. Jodi Duncan, who coached the volleyballPanthers for her first season, thought the team was verymuch like a family.Support, enthusiasm, andhard work throughout theseason rewarded the team.We showed improvement during the last part of theseason—I felt we jelled, concluded Duncan.RESERVE VOLLEYBALLTEAM.
