Description: Mystical eveThe mystical night arrived.The evening people had beenlooking forward to with anticipation since early in theschool year. Wearing elegantdresses, sophisticated tuxes,and the fragrance of freshflowers, students at Southdescended from some sort ofstorybook for the Prom.On a warm eve in mid-Aprilstudents dressed in their finestand headed off to the IndianaUniversity Memorial Union fora night of dancing and fun. TheAlumni Hall in the Union wasdecorated with everythingfrom balloons and flowers togazebos and fountains.Following with the traditionof past years, couples voted forking and queen when theyentered the Hall. Junior classPresident Sheila Eads waschosen to be queen and juniorScott Coons, king. The royalEverythings cool at the prom asjunior Gary Ramo and his datefreshman Tami Easton take some timefrom the dance floor to relax and havea good time.Junior Debbie Oclander and seniorHeather Cramer take a break fromconventional Prom dancing by doingtwirls.couple danced to the themesong for the Prom, Phil CollinsOne More Night.Junior Debbie Oclander commented on the Prom in thisway, The evening was magicaland magnificent. The coupleslooked fantastic and the nightwas very special.Following the Prom somecouples headed towards theYMCA for the No-sun, BeachFun post-prom party. A verysmall percentage of those thatattended the Prom also attended the post-Prom. Othercouples went to privatelyorganized parties.When tired students finallyheaded off to their homes andpillows, it can be said that eventhough this was the end ofanother Prom and magicalevening, students could lookforward to the next Prom, orremember this one forever.X v ^9Prom 37
