Juniors Catherine Bauer andDawn Faris on varsity often played forthe reserve team. Also, sophomoresMichell Lutes and Kelly Martin, whostarted the year on reserve, were eventually playing two quarters on thereserve team and two on the varsityteam. McCammon added that freshmenKim Curtis and Lisa Treitline helped outa lot.TOP: Sophomore Terri Covingtondrives around a defender.BOTTOM LEFT: SophomoreMichell Lutes makes a quick stop.BOTTOM MIDDLE: FreshmanLisa Treitline drives in for an easylay-up.BOTTOM RIGHT: SophomoreKaren Seibert goes high for controlat tip off.The freshman team ended its seasonwith a record of 3-5. Despite the losingrecord, freshman coach Luanne McCammon said her emphasis was on team improvement rather than having a winningseason.McCammon said Lara Stebbins gave100 percent and Kileen Stafford was instrumental in the leadership of the team. The fact that the team never quit, however, was what pleased her most. The schedule was not terribly difficult,McCammon said; but she commentedthat five months was too long a time inwhich to play eight games.Thinking back on the season, McCammon said the teams started to practice inOctober and played their eighth and finalgame in February. McCammon said shewas very proud that the girls stayed withit that long.100 Girls Reserve/Freshman Basketball
