Description:	M usic gives opportunities to display taleniThe three South choirs this year includedmore than 100 students and gave them theopportunity to display some of their musicaltalents.The freshman choir is basically a developing group, said Stephen Inscoe, director. The freshmen perform less often thanthe other choirs.The symphonic choir is the largestgroup we have; they performed in concertsand at other functions, Inscoe added.The Madrigals, Souths chamber andswing choir, not only performed at annualconcerts but also at banquets, dinnershows, convocations, middle schools, elementary schools, and for the North Minstrels(BHS North) chamber group.The Madrigals were busiest during theChristmas season, when banquets were frequent. They performed at the IU MemorialUnion, sororities, and Westbury Underground.Their show consisted of what Inscoecalled dynamic chamber pieces, solosand ensembles, and rock tunes with choreography by Debbie Knapp and Cheryl Figgof the Windfall Dancers.I think weve improved since the beginning of the year. Also, I think our choreography has improved since we have our ownchoreographers, said senior Madrigal LoriGrounds, winner of the Arion Award for thebest senior in the choirs.Choreographer Debbie Knapp fellarrangement was a good way forischool students to work with professidinstead of having high school studenl\|the choreographing. It also adds morefessionalism and a sense of what it takbe a good performance.Many choral students went to contedyear at North. Those who took first pla(the top division competed later at ArJTechnical High School.Those who competed at Arsenal TecjKarim Davezac, Jim Davis, Gary D^Doug Ellis, Jonathan Grant, Lori GroijDavid Jones, and Rolf Samuelsen.TOP: SYMPHONIC CHOIR.
