The main character,Ren, decides to protest thislaw by convincing the localteenagers to participate indancing although they mayget in trouble with the law. This year, South performedFootloose for their annualspring musical.Footloose is a greatmusical. It has a story thatmakes (people) realize howmuch impact one action canmake on a whole town, saidjunior Katelynn Nunn, anactress in the musical. Nunnplayed the part of Vi who wascrucial to the plot of themusical because she was tornbetween helping herdaughter who wanted todance and supporting herhusband who rejected it.Although the story waswell written, and the plot veryentertaining, the show did notcome without challenges. There was a time I didntthink the show was going tocome together, juniorThomas Mcevilly said. Mcevilly, who played Ren, thought thatxone of the main things thathelped to get him throughthese challenges wasmemorizing lines with his friendjunior Calvin Prenkert, who wasalso cast as Ren. Freshmanand cast member Noel Martinalso had a specific techniquethat helped her to learn linesand prepare for the show; sheused color coding tomemorize her parts. Theactors put in long hours tomemorize their parts, evenstaying at rehearsals until 10p.m. during the week of theshow to perfect theperformance. These techniques, alongwith the support of castmateswho motivated each otherbefore each show, helped toinstill a confidence in theperformers. This was crucial totheir success. Despite havingdifficulties in rehearsing for themusical, the cast put a lot ofhard work into theproduction, and the endresult was spectacular.Through their performance, the town of Bomont wentfrom dull and quiet tomelodious and fun again.-Taylor HayesVII102Ryan Campbellfreshman
