Description: WRESTLINGtrue life: a high school wrestling captainOn any high school sports team, beingthe captain is a very important job. JuniorNolan Wampler sat down and talked abouthis life as Norths wrestiing team captain. What was the hardest thing to do as acaptain? The hardest thing is probably keepingeveryone in line and together. We struggledwith a lot of duels that we shouldve won.We played a lot of teams that we shouldhave beat, because we didnt have enoughpeople to get the scores we wanted. It wasalways down to one or two points. What was the biggest set back you hadthis season? The lack of other teammates on theteam, because we barely had enoughpeople to fill an entire team. Iwas the onlyperson my size in the room to practicewith. I didnt have a partner all year. Why are there not enough people onthe team?Wrestling is just a really hard sport. Its very unforgiving. Last year and the yearbefore, a kid had broken an arm. Its alsohard to maintain your weight and watchwhat you eat so closely.Do you enjoy being on the wrestlingteam? It was fun for me because Ive donethis stuff my whole life, and Im used to itnow. It was just fun to work with all theguys.Hunter Fuller, 12, during a duel.
