But thanks to^ileadership of a core group of seniors, theteam was able to band together andbecome stronger in the long run. CoachJason Speer credits these seniors withhelping the underclassmen gain basketballexperience at a varsity level whileenforcing optimism and a strong workethic.[The seniors] provided stability andenthusiasm, Speer said.Throughout the season, Senior NoahSpencer was well aware of hisresponsibility to be a good role model.I think that [Coach Speer] was kindof on us this year to be role models andJeaders for [the underclassmen] so that^hey can have a good future on the78earn and the team can be in good handsnext year when were all gone, Spencer said.Senior Nick Dolson described theseason as having a lot of ups and downs thatultimately gave the team the ability to learnfrom them and prepare for challenges in thefuture.I think it was kind of a learningexperience for everybody. Dolson said.Senior Sam Weger agreed, noting thathe too learned a lot from his time on the :basketball team.It taught me teamwork, working as agroup, and working with different types ofpeople, Weger said.The graduating seniors are bound tohave a lasting impact on the teamsunderclassmen, like Kobe Davis, whoadmired their strong leadership.I just really looked up to them, Davissaid.story and photos by Hannah Johnsonout!
