Im alright withbeing able to earn a varsity letter for sideline cheer, but thats not all that were about. Cheering footballgames in the fall is kind of like our off season. Whatyou see us doing there is not nearly what we arecapable of. October to February is our competitionseason. This is the season that we live for but thatpeople dont get to see. We start practicing fornationals during football season, but once thatsover, its go time. Cheering a football game is onething, but being on a competition team of this levelis a whole other world. You have to be not onlyphysically but mentally strong. It would beridiculous to call cheer anything but a sport.[Competition cheer] is about seeing how far you canpush your mind and your body for your team. Itsabout flipping yourself over in the middle of that jam-packed three minute routine even when you just used everyounce of energy to save that stunt you just did 30 seconds earlier. So yes, this is a sport. And Im proud torepresent North in Orlando and show people what we work for every day: we practice once a day, or more, forso many days, to perform a three minute routine, and its all worth it, because I love this sport.- Shelby StormLHFiYOU
