Kings of the CourtThe two teams exchange a high five after a wellfought game.nso1nnThe Start Of Something New story by: Lily Terrell and Rachel CrabtreeFour years ago, Bloomington North Volleyball needed a way to raise money for the program. But they didnt wantto do any ordinary fundraiser. They wanted to come up with something new and fun that would get people involved. The parents and players came up with an idea similar to the powder puff game that has gone on for so many years. Now, each year in the fall, the girls gather up a team of boys to compete in the 100 Aces Boys VolleyballTournament. The tournament gets bigger and bigger each year. This year was bigger than ever, with 18 participating teams, lasting a total of four and a half hours. Its always a lot of fun, senior Jake Richards said. Its hard to play as a single person, but when you get into therhythm and play as a team, you play a lot better and start winning games.Along with fun for the boys, the fundraiser also brings a new perspective to the girls who coach. Its a good experience and shows a little bit of what it would be like to be a coach some day, senior Julia Woodsaid. |
