His father Ozan Silayplayed soccer for Demirspor, a professional Turkish team,before taking a new job and moving his family to the UnitedStates.Silay lived in Turkey for the first five years of his life beforemoving to Bloomington with his parents. His parents movedhim and his little brother Kaan because his father took a jobas a contractor. He learned English along the way whileadjusting to his new city.Silay loved soccer from the beginning, realizing it was inhis blood to play. He began playing soccer when he wasthree, excelling in the sport.
