Description: Young Team Shows PromiseAfter losing many starters,the Bloomington North Cougar Basketball team had somebig shoes to fill. With onlyone returning starter, seniorFrank DiSilvestro, the Cougars were a young but talentedteam. They ended up with an18-4 record, losing only onegame in 1996. The team beatBloomington High SchoolSouth in regular season playby one point. With one second left, junior Matt Reed,with an injured disc, threw upa shot that went in at thebuzzer. Senior Eric Thompson recalls another outstanding game against JenningsCounty: Jennings Countywas ranked 16th in the state.Junior Jeremy Sinsabaugh fakes tohis left for an open shot.Junior Mario Wuysang holds off adefender while trying to receive apass.Kueth Duany flies high above hisopponents for a jump shot.(flPeople thought our winningrecord was nothing but luck,so we had to go out and proveit wasnt.In the Sectional tournament the Cougars suffered atough loss in the first roundagainst the BloomingtonSouth Panthers, but were nottoo disappointed with theseason overall. The Cougarswill only be losing two seniors, Frank DiSilvestro andEric Thompson.
