Junior Stephen Zerfas finishes his Sectional race atthe Brown County course. I always make a pointto run the strongest part of my race in the secondhalf, Zerfas said. Its important to go out andhold your own, setting goal after goal, which givesyou motivation to push when it hurts the most.During warm-ups before the match against South, sophomore Janessa Faris practices passing theball. As libero for the varsity team, Faris is the onlyplayer allowed to move on and off the court without using a substitution. She is almost always in thegame to receive the serve and play defense. Farissaid that as she is playing, she is motivated most byher teammates. They always push me to be betterand cheer me on, Faris said.As a striker for the girls soccer team, senior HannahClune must work with her teammates, sophomoreAnn Zerfas and senior Una Nattermann, to keepthe ball flowing from defense to middle field andinto the goal. Usually I have to find (Zerfas) andwe have to make rounds around each other, Clunesaid. Her main job is to collect and distribute theball to Zerfas, a strategy that contributed to theteams record-breaking 1 3 shutouts in one season.a 92 a fall sports n |
