She started a Wallof Fame along the walls of the art classroomsand hallways.It is a display of students names who havebeen members of the art department here atNorth taking multiple art classes, who have thengone on to either major in art at a university orgone to an art school, Davis-Deckard said.She has been tracking her students successessince 1993, only her second year here.I care a lot about my students and want themto succeed, Davis-Deckard said.Although this was one of the chief reasons shestarted The Wall, Davis-Deckard mainly wantedto show her students that pursuing art in thefuture was an attainable possibility.I love hearing from them over the years. Butmore importantly I want my students to know thatart is a credible course of study; that there aremillions of art related jobs, and that it is perfectlypossible for students who love art to succeedat centering their lifes work around art, Davis-Deckard said.The art program and this wall of accomplishments have inspired multiple students to continue pursuing the art field to become successfulartists, even professors.One student from North had absolutely nomoney to pursue college or art school, Davis-106 art
