Description: ThisJunior Bobby Railing takes down anopponent during a meet atBloomington South. Railing hasbeen on Bloomington Northswrestling team for three years. It could have gone better, but overallI had a good senior year.Cutting weight, running miles, hours ofpracticing and eating healthy are all partof a normal wrestling season for juniorDustin Bruce.Wrestling practices and conditioning beginin the early fall and last until the end of winter. However, for Bruce, the season lasted longerand took a lot of extra work.A normal week of practice would consist ofabout 15-20 hours a week. Practice includedconditioning, running, and wrestling each otherto become stronger. Not only did Bruce attend practice but healso ran at the end of practices and on theweekends. Bruce would try to run at leasttwo miles every night to keep the unneededweight off.I had to lose about 20 lbs to be in my weightclass, which is 130, Bruce said. Also, to lose weight he had to change hiseating habits, which meant watching what he-Seth Teeters, seniorate and choosing only the healthiest andlightest foods.Monday and Tuesday I would eat anything, but work extra hard at practice, and Thursdayand Friday I wouldnt eat anything exceptmaybe a protein bar, he said.Even with all of the work, Bruce said it wasworth it.I love everything about wrestling, but whenit comes to the middle of the season it getstiring. But there is no better feeling thanwrestling on the weekends.Bruce placed first in sectionals and inregionals. He also made it to semi-state wherehe received second place and then went onto state.Bruce was one of two people who continued togo on to state this season. Next year he hopes hewill walk through state and have easy matches.Story by Lindsay Chesak and Leeanna CraigLeeanna CraiHoldin It DownWrestling 85
