Boys SoccerThis was supposed to be a rebuilding year forthe Cougar boys soccer team, since they graduated allof their starters except senior Atiq Zamani andsophomore Shaun Figueiredo. However, this wasdefinitely not the case. The Cougars were ranked in thetop twenty for the first time in three years, and beat #12Castle 1-0. The boys won their fifth straightsectional championship, which is the third longestcurrent streak in the state. They ended with a final record |of 12-6-3, an improvement over last year.My favorite moment from last season would bedefeating Bloomington South for the last time as a senior and co-captain, and keeping the sectional winning streakalive, said senior Atiq Zamani. Zamani was named second team All-State by the Indiana Soccer CoachesAssociation--the highest award a North boys soccer player has ever received.Senior Paul Mongold shared Zamanis sentiments about the season.
