Bloomington High School North, Nikean, 1996, Page 102

Description: Administration Starts a New ChapterThe Bloomington North1995-96 school year wasfilled with loads of changes. The students had to get used tonew policies and new facultymembers. But, students werenot the only people effected. The faculty, from teachers toadministrators, felt thechange, too. Unlike the students, the faculty actually hadto induce the changes andmake everything work.Sue Beerman was in herself a big change. She isNorths new principal whoplans to be here for a longtime. The school year wasstarted off with her introduction to the student body, alongwith her No Hat policy.Mrs. Beerman thought thispolicy and more would helpimprove respect between thestudents and faculty. Alongwith respect the faculty triedto upgrade the discipline. This was done with a strictpolicy of all tardies resultingin 30 minutes of after schooldetention. Not only has Mrs.Beerman changed the schoolthis year but is working on theyears to come. For instance, next year North will have anew block-eight curriculum.Besides discipline and respect the faculty has pouredon some spirit. In the Mathdepartment itself, you can findsplashes of maroon and goldeverywhere, from the walls tothe clothes on the teachersbacks. Hopefully with thesekind of changes and moreNorth will continue to improve.New Principal Sue Beermanbrowses through some literature inher office.
