Description: Practical Arts — Learning TechniquesPractical Arts is madeup of three major areas:Business, Industrial Arts,and Home Economics. Theclasses available allow students to have hands-ontraining at a particular skill.They learn valuable skillsand receive immediate results.Woods, Drafting andSmall Engines are three ofthe classes offered in Industrial Arts. In Drafting,the students can learnskills such as sketchingplans for a house. TheSmall Engines students arelearning repair and maintenance of engines. Thisskill is one that can be valuable to both men andwomen. In Woods class,students have the option tobuild almost anything theywant, from coat-racks toskate ramps. The maingoal is to strive for perfection.Mrs. Mercier is busy thisyear with her Home Economics courses. New technology is being used toteach sewing and cooking,but there is much more toHome Ec. than sewing andcooking. Youve probablyseen some of your classmates carrying aroundEgg-Babies. This projectteaches high school students the responsibility ofparenthood.
