Young Authors Get Back to BasicsWELCOME„YOlfflG AUTHORSThe neglect of the basics (reading and writing) in our schools has triggered a new push formastering these skills. The Young Authors Conference, held Saturday March 7, reflected thisconcern. Students from five area school corporations were encouraged to write something creative in the weeks preceding the event. The conference was attended by more than 500 studentsfrom the surrounding area.The guest speaker, Arnold Adoff, childrenswriter and Anthologist, gave lectures and mingled with students giving them the opportunityto discuss the many aspects of writing and theimportance of this skill in everyday life.1. Students of all ages attended the Young Authors Conference Saturday, March 7, at University Middle School.2.
