Description:	North Gymnasts Have the Balance1981 will be one more winning season to add toNorths yearly record. Last year (1980) North placed atight 3rd in sectionals with a score of 19-25 to Souths91.55 and Terra Haute Souths 19.75—only a halfpoint difference between 1st and 3rd place.Ranking individual performers advancing toRegionals were optional contenders Heidi Reingen-burg on vault; Kim Dorsett, vault; and Susan Martin,all-around.Placing 3rd on vault with a score of 6.6, Susan Martin moved up to state winning 3rd place with a markof 8.35.Maroon and Gold award winners were DeniseStoner and Heidi Reingenburg.Losing only one senior from last year, elevenreturned plus 7 new faces joined the team. Althoughinjuries and the flu seemed to be working against allother teams this year, Cougar tumblers managed toslide by these two ailments with great ease, only tocreate great standings with an Intermediate record of7-1, losing their first meet to Mooresville, and anOptional record of 7-0.Pre-season conditioning, including workouts inthe weightroom, definitely made a big difference inthe team performance, said Coach Duvall.Optional team members: Karen Schwomeyer, all-around; Jan Crockett, all-around; Beth Thompson, all-around; Tammy Cruthers, vault, floor, beam; SusanMartin, all-around; Denise Thurman, bars, vault; Denise Stoner, all-around; Amy Fulton, floor, beam, vault.Intermediate team members: Renee Jackard, all-around; Angie Fein, beam, floor; Cheryl Schrader,vault, bars; Stefani Hamilton, floor, vault; MonicaHartke, beam, floor; Emily Snapp, vault, bars, beam;Shelly Chambers, bars; Ann DeKoker, vault, bars;Tonya Gonterman, bars; Ruth Silva, beam.The 1981 girls gymnastics team has high goals, anddefinitely the power and potential to obtain them.1.
