Description:	Athletic AssociationTHE Bloomington High School Athletic Association was organized Sept. 27, 1907, to provide a more defi-nite organization between all student organizations of the school; and, to provide for a representative board from the faculty and the student body to act in an exe-cutive capacity.The Board of Control, as elected this year, is: Miss Ellis, Mr. Duncan and Mr. Pittenger from the faculty, Ardys Chenoweth, Winford Greene and Ralph Woolery from the student body. The officers are : Winford Greene, President; Miss Ellis, Treasurer; Ardys Chenoweth, Secretary. Several important matters have come before the consideration of this board. Under their leadership the movement for the new library was put on foot. All funds necessary for furnishing the new library were controlled by Miss Ellis, the Treasurer. The proceeds from the Wig & Mask play, Mr. Bob, were controlled by the board. The election of a Business Manager for the 1909 Gothic as well as the 1910 Gothic was in their hands. They have controlled the funds raised to finance the Gothic. Altogether, the money that has gone through the hands of the Treasurer could be approximated at $1,000. A standard “B” was adopted for all the athletics in the school, and this “B” as awarded to the eligible members of the ’08 Football team and to those of the ’08 Baseball team.The Association is still in its infancy. It was organized largely through the efforts of Mr Ramsey and from the stand-point of its officers it has succeeded admirably. The student body as a whole does not seem to appreciate its work as was shown by the number who paid their dues. This is probably due to misunderstanding, as the fee is only 50c for boys and 25c for girls, and as most students thinking that the Associa-tion is purely for the furtherance of athletics.
