Runners Take Sectional, Send 3 to StateAlwine, Cornwell,Kegley Lead WayWeathering numerous storms, bothCoach Goss and the clouds, the 1969BHS track team pushed off wins inthree of the last four meets to raceto their third straight sectionalcrown. Tom Alwine, two-miler, JohnCornwell, and Scott Kegley, polevaulters, qualified for state finalswhile Grant Watts and Doug Tytejust missed qualifying. Alwine andCornwell both broke school recordsin their events during the season.Several new runners performed wellfor the Panthers, including GregWulf, Ed Van Deventer, Pete Hillen-berg, and Bob de Maille. Watts waselected Captain for the 1970 season,and Cornwell received the B-MenAward.UPPER LEFT: State vaulter John Cornwellset a school record in pole vaulting and wasgiven the B-Men Award.
