A free copyof the school paper is one of the many services whichBloomington High offers its students. The Optimiststaff works long and hard to put out a paper that thestudent body will appreciate. This bi-monthly papercame out 16 times during the school year.Carla Johantgen, editor-in-chief, was the foremanof the staff. She supervised all the work that wasdone and gave advice where needed. Helping herwas the managing editor, Ladonna Higgins.The Optimist provides the students with news ofschool life. In addition, cartoons and several columnshave been added this year.One of the separate functions of the Optimist staffis the News Bureau. This department sends schoolnews to the two downtown papers. Six reportersmade up the News Bureau staff with Sylvia Hutcherson the editor-in-chief. Separate newspaper editorswere chosen every six weeks, and it was their job tosee that assignments were posted and to make surestories were taken down to the newspapers. |
