Though winning few games, they stuck to it and neverquit fighting.Coach Mumbys first call for football candidates wasin the middle of August, and the boys went through theirfirst workouts with a temperature above 90 degreesin the shade. The Panthers first tough break camewhen Captain Bob Sudbury, tackle, broke his wristin a practice scrimmage after having played in onlythe first game.Air of Bloomingtons home games, except thelast two, were played in Memorial Stadium atIndiana University.Vincennes was Bloomingtons first opponent, with the Alices winning 21-0. Onlya foot from a touchdown once during thesecond half, the Panthers could not quitepush the ball across.Host to the Bloomfield CardinalsSeptember 22, Bloomington sufferedanother defeat by a score of 20-0.Bob Sudbury, ChalmjYoung, Merrill Beck,ICTUREBoyert, Dick Miller, BobThomas.
