WINGS OF THE MORNINGThe Senior Class made its dramatic debut the evenings of November3 and 4 with the presentation of its play, Wings of the Morning.Though the cast was composed for the most part of inexperiencedactors and actresses, the play moved swiftly and with great precision.Roger Stull portrayed an old man who desired to prove to people ofall classes, life is futile if one desires only wealth and material things.As the curtain was drawn on the last act, the audience felt a sense ofpeace and quietness. Wings of the Morning proved that the public enjoys a play with a moral.LIFE BEGINS AT SIXTEENBloomington High School students at last got their wishes for acomedy about people their own ages when the Proscenium Players presented Life Begins at Sixteen. It was more than the interest in theplot, that made all who went enjoy it; it was the humor in the lines and theclever dramatic ability shown by the cast.Marianne Wiseman and Bob Harvey played the leads as sixteen-year-old twins. The plot was woven around them and their friends who all belonged to an organization called the Secret Seven.Life Begins at Sixteen, which was directed by Mr. Gooch, proved tobe entertaining to young and old, alike.THE WHOLE TOWNS TALKINGThe Whole Towns Talking, a three-act comedy, the second Seniorplay was presented by the Senior Class March 16 and 17.The play tells of a father, Mr. Simmons, who wishes his daughterEthel, to marry his shy, quiet partner, Chester Binny; however Ethel desires a man with experience such as Roger Shields. In order that ChesterBinny may seem attractive to his daughter, Mr. Simmons concocts a fantastic romance between Chester and Letty Lythe, a famous movie queen.Complications arise as Miss Lythe arrives in the city for a personal appearance. She is accompanied by her fiance, Donald Swift, who, uponhearing of her rumored love affair, confronts Binny and Simmons in orderto learn the truth.As good plays do, The Whole Towns Talking ends with everyoneliving happily ever after.Page sixty-four |
