As the title suggests, it was astory of high school life and troubles. This year for the first time, the Proscenium Players held OpenHouse. Instead of giving a three act play, the club presented three one-act plays: one a fantasy, one a comedy, and one a tragedy. The tragedy was Taps, which won superior ranking at the SpeechArts Festival in Terre Haute.Membership in the organization is determined by semester try-outs.The club meets bi-monthly, at which time short plays or programs are presented.Sponsors are Mrs. Childs, Mrs. Giles, Miss Slates, and Mr. Ashbaucher.OPTIMISTPublished weekly on Friday during the school year except vacation orexamination period by students in the Journalism Department, The OPTIMIST celebrated its twenty-fifth birthday last February.THE OPTIMIST attempted this year to break away from conventionalities in page make-up and to inaugurate a paper with more eye-appeal. Time-style, headline hints rather than headlines, and insertededitorials were two experiments the staff worked on especially.THE OPTIMIST itself, however, is no longer an experiment. Thetesting days of the early editions, THE SPECULA and THE GOTHICNEWS, are over. THE OPTIMIST is now a self-supporting, subscription-free edition devoted to the interests of the student body.Page fifty-six
