Description: The Importance of Being EarnestTHE 1930 Senior Class of Bloomington High School presented theirsecond play of the year on March 6th and 7th. While a someAvhatheavier production than Applesauce, The Importance of BeingEarnest Avas received just as enthusiastically. The cast and MissAlice Thorn, Avho coached the play, are to be congratulated on theirfine Avork. The cast Avas as folloAvs: Kathleen Roberts, ElizabethCarter, Marjorie Giles, Mary Louise Friedline, Fred Barrett, GeorgeKeough, Sheldon Rader, and Joseph Nurre.The play, by Oscar Wilde, Avas one with an English setting. Theplot centered around the name Earnest. Alas for the fickleness ofthe Aveaker sex. The predicament in Avhich Algerenon, pretending tobe named Earnest, and John Avhose name really Avas Earnest, foundthemseh^es, almost caused the disruption of both of their love affairs,hoAvever; the plot ran smoothly to an astonishing climax.Since the presentation of the Importance of Being Earnest, theSenior Class has sponsored the Indiana University Band in Iavo concerts Avhich were given on April 23. A matinee was given in the afternoon for the children from FairATieAv, Central, McCalla, Elm Heightsand Bannakar. The pupils turned out in commendable fashion. In theevening another concert Avas given for the townspeople and students ofthe High School. Captain Pirtle and Director V. E. Dillard are to becommended on their splendid co-operation in the matter.Eighty-nine
