But the fact remained with plenty of time for thefans to meditate on it that the local representatives had crashedthrotigh with a victory, and had Avon decisively over their rivals,Muncie. Bedford and Wabash also finished far up in the list, andElkart and numerous other grappling outfits were far behind. TheBloomington team overcame an advantage game by the Muncie teamon the first day and swept through with men in every final event butthree. The Panthers were the sensation of the entire athletic meetwhich was one of the most successful of all such athletic ventures triedat Indiana University. The record of the Mumby team has been remarkable, since the championship is the third that the locals have wonsince the meets were started some time ago, and for the space of timein which they have been held the local outfit has never finished lowerthan fourth place.One Hundred Sixteen |
