Description: THE FRESHMENNo one fully appreciated the Freshmen until the people inschool were arranged alphabetically in the section rooms. Thefirst day when the pupils came over from J. H. S., Sophomores,Juniors, and Seniors had to listen for about an hour to Freshmen instructions, things they had learned several years ago.Freshmen are always given credit for thinking that theyknow more than anyone else, but from the number of questionsthey can ask it doesnt seem possible that they can have thatgood opinion of themselves. They ask questions about everything, from program cards to every announcement that is madein the section rooms. They never ask a Sophomore or Juniora question, but save all of them for the Seniors. They seemto think that a Senior is a walking dictionary or an encyclopedia.Freshies are always given the credit for looking for thenumbers on the doors. Seniors are the students who do this, and sometimes the Juniors do it, but Freshmen—oh no !—theydont know where to look for numbers. When the students were asked not to bring their dates to thebasket-ball games everyone looked at the Juniors and Seniorsas if they were the only people who ever had dates, but fromwhat we have seen, we think the Freshmen cases are themost serious. But after all—we were all Freshmen sometime in the distant past and are now very dignified Seniors and they will soonfollow in our footsteps. It is really the Freshmen who makethe school, for if there were no Freshmen there soon wouldnot be any school.41
