Description: SOPHOMORE CLASSIntroducing to you the Sophomores, betterknown as the Has-Beens; has-been green but areno more—maybe. They look rather wilted, wemust admit, but remember that they have justbeen through the teething stage, alias, that periodof torture known as the Freshman Year. (No,this year we arent going to pull that old gag aboutthe Kiddie-Kars and lollipops, etc., and so on, adinterim. Keep the change.) Notice the elatedlook on most of the pale countenances of the dear infants. You see, just nowthey are at the stage when teachers refer to them as such swe-e-e-et children, donchaknow, and rave about their grades. None of which escapes theswe-e-e-et children. Also next year they will be Juniors—which is next bestto being a Senior, and being a Senior is lots more fun than studying. At leastthats what theyve been told by people who dont know anything about it.Thus the beaming countenances. While theres life theres hope, as somekind soul once remarked for the benefit of all struggling Sophs. All in all theyre really quite nice little things, and seriously, we hopetheyll go right on studying and be little angels and go to college and makePhi Beta Kappa and then come back to B. H. S. and teach a course entitledWhy I Think Text-Books are a Crime, or something on that order, if youfollow us. Not that we think they will, or anything. In closing we should like to advise all Sophs not to believe a word ofthis—and to go right on to the show to-night. Youll only be a Soph once. After that you have to begin studying. We thank you.Page Fifty-six
