19 GOTHIC 16OPTIMISTThe Optimist StaffONE of the most brilliant organizations of the school is theOptimist Staff. It is composed of a galaxy of budding editorsand editoresses, unexcelled anywhere. That these celebrities aremembers of a literary group is evident from their highly thoughtfulappearance and the numerous rolls of paper which they carry aboutfrom time to time. Individually, they rival even members of theGothic Staff; collectively, they are unrivaled.During the first two years of its publication, the same staff, in-cluding the editor, had charge of the Optimist for a whole year.Last fall the editors term of office was shortened from one yearto a semester. An assistant editor was to be elected each semester.who, after serving a term in that office, would become editor-in-chief.During the fall of 1915, Andrew Hepburn was editor and HerbertHazel assistant editor. In February, Hazel became editor andErnest Marxson was elected as the new assistant. With the new printing plant fully installed it looks as if theOptimist would be printed in the high school next year.(44) |
