Description: The Mathematics ClubThe Mathematics Club was organized in BloomingtonHigh School during the fall term of 1912, with AlphaMcCaughan President, and Janet Hepburn, Secretary.The Club was organized to study the history of mathe-matics and lives of ancient mathematicians. Some talksgiven during the year were: The Place of the Arab inMathematics, Three Great Problems of the Greeks,Early Influences of Christianity on Mathematics, Life ofPythagoras, Origin and Development of Zero, and TheMagic Square.For some time during the year membership was opento whomever might be interested enough to saunter intothe meetings. Whoever wished to become a member foundit not difficult. Later, however, rules were made strictlydefining membership.
