The Snookums ClassThe biggest ruffnecks in school are all Freshmen; soyou will find in the Ruff-neck Department. The Snook-umses, as a body, are the largest class in school. Thereare over a hundred of them. When Mr. Pittenger askedthem to commit themselves to one quarter for The GothicNews he received one hundred and thirteen subscriptionsin ten minutes. This is a record. Perhaps they can beatit as Sophomores.They boast of many gifted notorieties, not least of whomare Goose Louden, Baby Seidle and Goliath Hepburn.The Freshmen are the school peace-makers. Wheneverthere is a fuss on the campus the Principal calls out adetachment of about two or three sturdy Freshmen andthey walk over to the scene of the rumpus and look about.Then the outbreak ceases.The stature title of the school is held by the Freshmen,and the Physical Geography Department has installed asystem of paper weights in order to classify them whenthe microscope fails.All of them are not extremely large, however. Thesmallest in the lot is Glenn Guy. He weighs one andone-half milligrams.Page Thirty-six |
