Description: Sophomores 15Our Sophomores are an interesting bunch of childrenwho live chiefly in Room 1 and in hopes of becoming Juniorsat the end of this term. Wish em luck, were sure. The Sophs are the quietest, best drilled and disciplinedclass in school. Miss Van Auken succeeded Miss Craventhis term, as their section teacher. She has done her dutytoward their deportment, and the rest of the Faculty havefulfilled their obligations to their grade slips. Very fewSophs flunk nowadays; they went through the hail of firelast year and came out reduced in numbers, but fire-proofhereafter.Some of the brainiest people in the Junior ranks areSophs who are a credit or so ahead of their own kind.Sophs dont pay much attention to credits, or any suchuninteresting things, as a general rule. They dont mindhaving the Faculty around, however, so long as they reallyare not annoyed by the proximity.Their highest ambition is to get up in Room Seven andget back Miss Ray as Section Teacher. Some peoplesay that they have been merely subdued by Miss VanAukens reign of terror. At any rate, they have beentaught what not to do. That is a big thing. The Sophomores are going to be a big class.Page Thirty-two
