Fulfilling the one semester state requirement, theyalso studied mental health, physiology, family living, alcohol,and tobacco.Students in the Physical Education classes, participated in iceskating, tennis, swimming, tumbling, archery, and flag football. Asboys and girls gym classes unitedto compete in certain sports, theydiscovered interschool rivals.Driver Education teachers facedanother hectic year as studentdrivers tried their hand at thewheel. Students learned the basicskills and proper attitudes of driving through classroom lecturesand actual driving experience.Aiming towards creativity andself-expression, students enrolledin Art courses such as Ceramics,Creative Metals, and Drawingand Painting. These courses werepopular because students wereable to incorporate their knowledge of art into a product, suchas pottery or jewelry. Out ofcuriousity and a growing interestin art and its applications, the artclass enrollment increased. Introductory Art Courses were movedto the cafeteria, because of ashortage of classroom space.51 |
