Description: South Park- Bigger, Longer & UncutSouth Park was funny if you like prejudice and sacrilegious comedy. In a review on the movie by Slainte, he states: “You have to be afan of the South Park series; if not, you’re in for a shock.” This is definitely true, but I don’t think that you have to like the movie if you like theseries. I happen to love the series, but found a few things disturbing inthe movie. It starts out with Cartman persuading his mother to let him go tothe cinema, although she is unaware that he is going to see the new R-rated movie- “Asses of Fire.” He takes all of his friends along—Kyle,Stan, and Kenny. They go to school thenext day and proceed to astonish theiryoung naive classmates with their newlyfound language. The school notifies theirmothers, and they in turn are very upset.Kyle’s mother is in particular, and shedecides to start a campaign to have thefilm banned, and blames Canada for thecorruption of their children’s minds. TheU.S. decides to put a lot of Canadians inconcentration camps. The ironic thingabout this is that Kyle’s mother happensto be Jewish. The movie goes on to showsegregation of African-American andCaucasians in the U.S. army, Satan havingsex with Saddam Hussein, and nastycomments about almost every minority, including women.“I laughed. I didn’t always feel good about what I was laughingabout, but I did,” said Roger Ebert. I thought this quote summed uphow I felt while seeing the movie. Some say not to take this movie soseriously, that it is just making fun of our country and culture. Can we nottake that thought a bit to far sometimes? Perhaps with this movie?I recommend seeing this movie, but prepare to be offended! Justwhen you think that there is nothing more the movie could make fun of, itpops up with something new.43By: Carrie MarchantSouth Park
