The townsmen tell him that it is a ghost calledThe Headless Horseman. Ichabod of course does not believe this,but he will soon see the truth.To say the least, this movie wasn’t as good as I expected. Itwasn’t a bad movie by any means, but it wasn’t great either. I remember watching Walt Disney’sversion of it when I was younger; Iwas fascinated by it. When this reallife movie came out, I jumped to gosee it. I thought that it would bemore realistic than it turned out tobe. Don’t get me wrong, there weresome pretty sickening parts in themovie that are as realistic as it gets,but for the most part it was filled withfantasy and corny lines by JohnnyDepp. For instance, there was atree of death that was filled withdead people’s heads. This wasn’treal in the first place, but then wesee the Headless Horseman jumpout of the tree as if he lived in therenow. Tim Burton also completelychanged Ichabod’s character from the original book. In the originalversion, he was a lonely dork of a schoolteacher who happened tobe in the wrong places. This movie portrays Ichabod as a verygood-looking male investigator. I love Johnny Depp, but I think thatthey could have stayed truer to the story; since they didn’t, maybethey should have changed the name.Movie Reviews42
