The ancient city of Tadmor or Tadmur provided a resting oasis for caravans crossing the Syrian Desert. It was known as the Bride of the Desert. Tadmor is mentioned in the Bible, 2 Chronicles 8:4: And he built Tadmore in the wilderness, and all the store cities which he built in Hamath. The plate is backstamped TADMOR IN THE DESERT HOLY BIBLE H WARRANTED in red with an open book and rays emanating from the book. The number 2 is painted in red to the lower right of stamp.
