The First Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis in the center with pastors and elders around the edge. Nine images total: church building and eight pastors and elders all in ovals with names below. Top center is Gurlay (Pastor Phineas Gurlay 1840-1849. He would later be a prominent Washington D. C. pastor and chaplain of the US Senate), then going down left side: Cunningham, Ray (probably James M. Ray), and McIntire. Bottom center is Harrison (Benjamin). Right side from top to bottom: McClung, Nixon, and Sharpe. Image of the church is the first building that was located on the circle. The Reverend Phineas D. Gurley became the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in 1840 and a new building was erected on the corner of Market and Circle streets (northeast corner) in October 1842. Harrison became an elder at age 28 in 1861 and remained one of the churchs leaders until his death in 1901.
