Right side from top to bottom: McClung, Nixon, and Sharpe. Image of the church is the first building that was located on the circle. The Reverend Phineas D. Gurley became the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in 1840 and a new building was erected on the corner of Market and Circle streets (northeast corner) in October 1842. Harrison became an elder at age 28 in 1861 and remained one of the churchs leaders until his death in 1901. |
