Al_Mutanabbi Street, 2007

Description: intaglio, chine collé and stitching. Edition of 6.
I hear old Arabic songs in the background and gunshots and blasts sound in front of me. I smell breads and sweets mixed with smoke and blood; I see ancient places ruined along newly built neighborhoods. and letters from burned books are dancing over the map of Baghdad. They tell me stories of past and present of beautiful Iraqi people on al-Mutanabbi street on the day of the bombing, and all other days—the ones who once looked at the books and turned the pages. Stories of people in love with life and culture, who have been interrupted by bombs, by war and by occupation (Retrieved from IUCAT November 6, 2019).
