Description: |
spit bite aquatint etching. Edition of 10. I have never lived in fear of bombs. But my childhood was spent in the hills of Southern California and I know fire.I tried to imagine how the moments after the explosion felt. I looked at many photos but, mostly, I remembered standing bewildered in a parking lot during one of the conflagrations of my childhood as the winds blew the flames. I remembered burning possessions going up in smoke and drifting back down as ash.The spring after a California fire was especially green and lush.I hope for a parallel on Al-Mutanabbi Street some day. |
