Letter from George L. Regan to Jesse Dorsey, July 19, 1942.

Description: Regan writes on Camp Forrest, Tennessee stationary. He looked over the list of men from home and they are represented all over the world. He was assigned to the 80th division which was formed on July 15. They spent 3 weeks learning how a division is formed. At first the men came in 100 a day now it is 1000 a day. He does not see how they can keep track of them. Members of the old 80th division came and turned over their colors and flags to the new division. They kept the same slogan and insignia. This letter is part of a large group of letter written to or by Jesse G. Dorsey during World War II. Dorsey ran the community house for the Louisville Cement Company in Speed, Indiana. Being a veteran of World War I, he knew the value of providing support to the troops. He wrote letters and sent the company newsletter (Speedometer) to several hundred service men and women during the war. The community house also hosted weekend parties for soldiers from Fort Knox, Kentucky during the war.
